I just went to the Neighborhood Fiber Co. for the first time, for a class- think I just found a new favorite place! The class was great, the yarn colors are incredible, and the people were so welcoming. I can’t wait to go back!

I had my first trip on a whim this past Saturday and I was overjoyed! The store is two floors: the first floor is for dedicated to dying yarn and dye classes. I was promptly welcomed on the first floor by a woman that was twisting yarn into hanks and two women relaxing from the dye class. They were incredibly polite, friendly and personable: all the qualities I have come to expect from local yarn shops. The second floor is the store. You will not find major brands here. The store is dedicated to all of the in-house dyed yarns. They offer a variety of yarn by fiber types (mohair, silk, merino wool blends, etc.) with most, if not all unique yarn colors in every yarn weight and plies. They also offer yarn kits! The store is open, with big windows that offer natural sunlight, a few areas to relax and knit (or crochet) and is very VERY clean. It's not overwhelming or cluttered. The ladies that work there are honestly the best part of the entire experience. One woman there, (Becca?) was incredibly helpful with helping me find the right color combinations, weight and amount of yarn for my project. They do not try to upsell you and convince you to buy everything in stock. She asked sensible questions of "what are you making? What kind of yarn do you like? Do you know how many yards you need?" And if you don't have an answer, she can either make a very well-educated guess or will happily look for a similar pattern online to get you the right amount. The ladies also offer yarn and crochet classes, and I am sure they would not disappoint. I am signing up to take a knitting class with them in the fall because I'm eager to learn. They even complimented my crochet skills! I am so happy to have finally made my way to this yarn store. They have found a very happy repeat customer in me!

Run don't walk here. A yarn store that dyes all its own yarn. The yarn bases they start from are lovely. They have an eight ply sock yarn, bfl in three yarn weights and much much more. The store is bathed in natural light so you can truly see all the colors. You will find colors here that you have only dreamed of. Kristen was knowledgeable enthusiastic and the kind of person you want to drink tea with and knit. Beware the gradients are addicting. I bought so much that I had to ship some back. Thank you for creating this yarn Mecca.

Just had my first visit to this absolute yarn heaven!! I pray it won't be my last. Restored firehouse turned into a knitter's utopia. Wonderful colorways in everything from lace to super chunky. The team is very friendly, knowledgeable about a variety of fiberarts, and eager to help. They will even build on your idea and create the color of your liking if it doesn't already exist. Prices are very reasonable, and this makes decision-making just a tad bit difficult but, hey, it's utopia so spend!! For those interested in classes, they have knitting, candle making, weaving, Fibre-dyeing, cables and more!! New or seasoned to fiber arts? It doesn't matter, there is something here for you. Karida, Kristen, Jenelle and Astrid are all awesome!!
